Privacy Policy
Effective Date: August 1, 2025
Last updated: 26 October 2026 (free chapters of a book in progress, under Mise)
Epicurean Digital Consultants, operated by EPICUREAN DIGITAL CONSULTANTS LTD., located in 30 Durham Road, Wimbledon West, London SW20 0TW, United Kingdom, is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy outlines how we collect, use, and safeguard your information when you visit our website or engage with our services.
1. Information We Collect
- Personal Data: Includes your name, email address, phone number, and business details collected when you fill out forms or communicate with us.
- Usage Data: Information about your interactions with our website, such as IP address, browser type, pages visited, and time spent on pages, collected through cookies and similar technologies.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use the collected data to:
- Provide and manage our services.
- Personalize your experience on our website.
- Communicate with you, including sending newsletters and promotional materials (with your consent).
- Analyze website usage to improve our offerings.
- Comply with legal obligations.
3. Legal Basis for Processing
Our processing of your personal data is based on:
- Consent: Where you have given explicit consent.
- Contractual Necessity: Where processing is necessary for the performance of a contract with you.
- Legal Obligation: Where we are required to comply with a legal obligation.
- Legitimate Interests: Where processing is necessary for our legitimate interests, provided your rights do not override these interests.
4. Data Sharing and Transfers
We do not sell your personal data. We may share your information with:
- Service providers assisting in our operations (e.g., IT support, analytics).
- Resend (Resend, Inc.), which sends our emails — the newsletter, confirmation emails and checklist emails — and holds our newsletter subscriber list. Resend may process this data in the United States.
- Stripe (Stripe Payments Europe, Ltd. and Stripe, Inc.), which takes payment when you buy from Mise, our shop. You enter your card details on Stripe’s page, not ours; Stripe may process data in the United States. See Stripe’s privacy policy.
- Legal authorities when required by law.
If data is transferred outside the UK or EEA, we ensure appropriate safeguards are in place.
5. Data Retention
We retain your personal data only as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes outlined in this policy, unless a longer retention period is required by law.
Our newsletter, The Pass
If you subscribe to The Pass, our weekly email of UK hospitality news, rule and tax changes and AI developments, this is what happens to your data:
- What we keep: your email address, which sign-up form you used, when you asked to subscribe and when you confirmed, and a one-way hash of your IP address (not the address itself) to help us spot abuse.
- Legal basis: your consent. Nothing is sent until you click the link in our confirmation email.
- Who processes it: Resend (Resend, Inc.) stores the subscriber list and sends each issue on our behalf.
- How to stop: every issue has a one-click unsubscribe link, or email hello@epicureandigitalconsultants.com.
- How long: until you unsubscribe. After that we keep only a record that you unsubscribed, so you are not emailed again, and the record of your original consent.
Requesting our booking-audit checklist does not subscribe you to The Pass. You are only added if you tick the newsletter box on that form and then confirm by email.
Buying from Mise, and Mise Partners
- When you buy: we keep your email address, name, billing country, what you bought, what you paid, Stripe’s fee, and when you downloaded each file (with a one-way hash of your IP address). Legal basis: to perform our contract with you, and to keep the accounting records the law requires. Stripe handles your card; we never see it.
- Free downloads: we keep your email address, what you downloaded, when, and the wording you were shown when you signed up, to send it to you and let you download it again. Legal basis: your request.
- Free chapters of a book in progress: where a free download is the first chapter of a book that is still being written, the sign-up says so beside the email field, and we also email you the next chapter when it is ready. Legal basis: your request. The one email that announces the finished book, with its price, is sent only if you tick the separate “tell me when the full book is out” box, which is unticked by default. Legal basis: your consent. Every one of these emails has an unsubscribe link, and you can stop them at any time by replying or by emailing hello@epicureandigitalconsultants.com.
- Emails about your order: a receipt, a short how-to email a few days later and one feedback request. These are part of the service you asked for. If you tick “email me about new Mise drops”, you are also invited to The Pass (confirm by email first) and we may send one reminder if you don’t finish checkout.
- Mise Partners: if you apply, we keep your name, email address, the details you give us about where you publish, your payout details (encrypted) and the clicks and sales your links bring. Legal basis: our partner agreement. Partners see the amount of each sale, never the buyer’s name or contact details. If you arrive through a partner’s link, we record the click with a one-way hash of your IP address and, only if you accept marketing cookies, remember the partner for 60 days.
- How long: order and payout records for six years after the end of the financial year (UK tax rules); everything else for as long as your account or partnership is active, then deleted on request.
The quiz and AI-ready check on AI in Action
- On your device only: your quiz answers, your check answers and the date of your last visit are saved in your browser's local storage so the page can pick up where you left off. They are not sent to us, and you can clear them at any time by clearing your browser's site data.
- Quiz totals: when you answer a question, the page sends us the question and the option you chose so readers can see how others answered. We store only a running count per option: no name, email address, IP address or identifier is kept with it.
- If you send your check: we keep your email address, any name, venue and message you give, your answers, and a one-way hash of your IP address, to send you your list and, if you ask, for Ali to reply. Legal basis: your request. Resend sends the email on our behalf. We keep it for as long as we may need to answer you, and delete it on request. Sending your check does not subscribe you to The Pass unless you tick that box and then confirm by email.
6. Your Rights
Under the UK GDPR, you have rights to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you.
- Request correction of inaccurate data.
- Request deletion of your data.
- Object to or restrict processing of your data.
- Request data portability.
- Withdraw consent at any time.
